Man Utd: 10 Reasons Why Giggs-Van Gaal Relationship Will End In Tears

3. Van Gaal Might Be Incompetent

Success for van Gaal at United is by no means guaranteed and although he boasts an impressive CV, the Dutchman has endured tough times during his career before. Perhaps most notable was his failure to get the Netherlands to the 2002 World Cup, losing to the Republic of Ireland in a play-off. The club is also going through one of its worst periods in 25 years, with no European football on show at Old Trafford next season. With morale low, van Gaal is going to have to work hard to lift the mood, whilst also bringing in new signings to strengthen the squad. Pressure will be high on the Dutchman, largely down to the fact that United float on the New York Stock Exchange. Simply put, it means the club cannot perform poorly otherwise that will be reflected in the market. The Glazers wielded the axe after just 10 months of Moyes, so van Gaal must hit the ground running.
