Arguably the one player United fans would most like to see join this month is Borussia Dortmund star İlkay Gündoan. The box-to-box midfielder is one of the best in the world right now, and has been the subject of rumours linking him with a £24 million move to Old Trafford. London and Spanish duo Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid are all keen on Gündoan, who is currently stalling on a new contract at Borussia Dortmund. The 23-year-old says he is 'open' to the prospect of quitting Dortmund just less than three years after joining from FC Nürnberg, but is yet to decide on his future. A playmaking central midfielder, Gündoan is best known for his passing game and technical qualities, and has been heralded by some as the next Paul Scholes. The exciting starlet would be the 'marquee signing' needed to revolutionise United and breathe new life into their ailing Premier League campaign, and David Moyes must go all out to make a move happen - regardless of ineligibility in Champions League competition. Gündoan could do for United what Mesut Ozil did for Arsenal, and whether or not he joins the Red Devils this month could well be the deciding factor in their top four hopes.
