Man Utd Transfers: 5 Flops Who Must Be Ditched In January

4. Anderson

Anderson is another Red Devil simply not making the grade at Old Trafford. Signed in 2007 from Porto, big things were expected when he arrived in tandem with Luis Nani, with many at the time heralding the pair as the future of United's midfield. Flash forward six years and the duo form a part of what is arguably the worst midfield in the defending champion's recent history. With Paul Scholes retired and Ryan Giggs not far behind, it was hoped Anderson and Nani would serve as suitable replacements one day, and that simply hasn't happened. Nani would also have made this list had he not inexplicably been gifted a new contract recently, but Anderson has to go. A player who has never scored more than two Premier League goals, the Brazilian belies his nationality and is the furthest thing from a "Samba Star". Some might point out that Anderson isn't the natural-born goalscorer, and commend his tireless energy levels in the box-to-box role he is accustomed with, but he simply isn't doing enough for the side to merit another season here. It was hoped that he'd come good, but, now in his seventh season at the club, he hasn't, and never will.
