2. Neil Taylor
Last summer, when United's interest in Leighton Baines first became known, a debate raged among fans as to whether or not the Red Devils should sign Neil Taylor of Swansea City instead. It was said at the time that Everton's £20 million asking price for Baines had led former manager Sir Alex Ferguson to
reconsider his options, and Taylor was one alternative he had in mind. Now, United are finding it similarly difficult to land Baines and could again turn their attentions to the 24-year-old, who is younger than Baines and thus has more re-sale value. The Welshman has impressed at the Liberty Stadium, winning the League Cup earlier this year, and though he recently signed a new contract with Michael Laudrup's side, that's not to say the Swans wont entertain a bid if a big enough offer came in. A perhaps controversial alternative to Baines given Taylor is a graduate of the Manchester City youth academy, where he began his career in 1998, but he never made a senior appearance for the Citizens and could soon be forgiven by United fans for his past ties.
