1. Arsenal

odds-on favourite by a number of bookies to capture the Portugal international are United's Premier League rivals Arsenal. Wenger has characteristically not confirmed speculation and Arsenal have yet to make a bid for Nani's services so it cannot be confirmed how accurate the sources are. With Arsenal in need of some quality down the wings and Nani's history against the North London side, he could be lured into making a switch to one of United's fiercest rivals. As Van Persie and Silvestre have switched red-for-red in the past, it is not an unheard of thing for a United player to join Arsenal and vice versa.
After smashing their transfer record on Argentinian forward Gonzalo Higuain for £23 million, Wenger seems less reluctant than in previous windows to splash money on proven talent rather than his usual mantra of buying potential stars. With the aging Tomáš Rosický, the wantaway Gervinho and the rotational Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Nani has proven that he is capable of playing regularly. If he can find consistency, Nani would start far more regularly than he has down at United in recent seasons and a move to Arsenal would be a sensible one. Though he would be hated when the side visit the Theatre of Dreams, this is something that comes with moving to a Premier League rival (like Robin van Persie on the opposite route). Arsenal have a lot of deadwood in their side that are likely to move away from the club very shortly such as Nicklas Bendtner, Park Chu-Young, Andre Santos and Marouane Chamakh. This would free up some cash to put towards the signing of Nani, possibly even the full valuation. As Wenger has made some poor signings in the past on risky foreign investments such as Chu-Young, Santos and Chamakh (for more, visit
this article), Nani would not come under this category as he has already played six seasons in English football. If the two clubs can agree on a price and Nani can agree personal terms, this could prove to be one of the best pieces of business this transfer window. However, if the winger shows the same inconsistency he has as of late, it could be another flop to add to Wenger's list. That may be a risk the Frenchman is willing to make.
