4. He Isn't Respected In Madrid
Lionel Messi is the prodigal son of Spanish football, respected and adored by all involved with La Liga. The Argentine smashed all records in 2012 by scoring a jaw-dropping 91 goals for club and country in one calendar year, a feat (arguably) not surpassed by any other player in the history of the game. Because of his heroics, Messi is considered a cult figure in Spain and casts a looming shadow over Ronaldo, who is so often used to being in the limelight. A fourth successive Ballon d'Or win for the Argentinian once more left the Portuguese choking in the dust kicked up by Messi's blistering ascent to the top of the game, and it seems that Ronaldo simply cannot do anything to persuade the legions of La Liga fans that he deserves just as much of their respect as currently afforded to Messi. At Manchester United and Old Trafford, he would once more be the centre of attention, with very few (if any) able to replicate his amazing talents and goal-scoring heroics in the Premier League. He would certainly be more appreciated in the Premier League than he currently is in La Liga.
