1. £50 Million Can Be Invested Elsewhere

...Which brings us onto our final point. £50 million is a ridiculous amount of money to be paying for just one player, no matter how good he may seem at the time. I remember Chelsea paying the exact same amount on a certain Fernando Torres, and you won't need me to tell you how that one worked out. United aren't the sort of club who can just go out and throw ridiculous sums of money at just one player. While that sort of tactic might be water off a duck's back to the likes of tycoon Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, the Reds simply cannot afford to do that, especially not with the new Financial Fair Play rules set to rear its ugly head over the course of the next few seasons. Instead, Ferguson should invest in whatever money he does have on areas of the pitch that actually need improving upon, like the defence and midfield. For £50+ million, Ferguson could afford the following players: Mats Hummels -
£25 million Victor Wanyama -
£10 million Kevin Strootman
£18 million Total spend: £53 million By buying these players, Ferguson would shore up his central defence, add a tough-tackling Roy Keane-style midfielder and inject flair into the middle of the park with the creative Strootman. These three signings would go a long way to ensuring United remain successful next season - perhaps more so than the capturing of Falcao would.
What do you think? Should United sign Falcao?
