Man Utd Transfers: 5 Wayne Rooney Replacements David Moyes Should Buy

2. Robert Lewandowski

Robert Lewandowski, although the cheapest on this list in terms of market value, is by no means inferior to any of the potential Rooney replacements mentioned within these pages. The £25 million-rated Borussia Dortmund ace has been an integral cog in the back-to-back Bundesliga winning campaigns under Jurgen Klopp between 2010 and 2012, and was again instrumental for the Black Yellows this season as he helped fire the Germans into this year's Champions League Final with 10 goals in 11 European appearances. He's wanted by United, but Bayern Munich are threatening to rival the Red Devils for his signature as Pep Guardiola begins his revolution at the Bundesliga outfit in the summer. However, the fact that Bayern have already signed highly rated Mario Gotze from Dortmund this season could scupper their chances of signing Lewandowski. It's very unlikely that Jurgen Klopp would allow the club to sell a second major star to their main domestic rivals within the same season, which reportedly makes United slight favourite to land the signature of the Polish goal plunderer.
