1. Alexis Sanchez

By now, you can fathom the extent of financial losses Manchester United had to bear due to a series of appalling businesses in the transfer market. However, nothing can really hold a candle to this one.

Alexis Sanchez was not only a big time flop, but also burned a huge hole in United's pockets. He took home £500,000 per week to score only thrice in 18 months in the Premier League. To put that into perspective, the Chilean was paid a whopping £11 million per goal!

United could but wish such massive expenditure yielded dividends, but Sanchez was consistently below par. He appeared way out of depth everytime and also cut a forlorn figure on the field.

His incredible tally of 80 goals from 166 appearances for the Gunners looked like a distant memory as Sanchez could never conjure his best. He was later put out of his misery when Inter Milan swooped him away on a loan.
