New Spurs Manager: 5 Things He Should Prioritise

4. Sign A Left Back

On paper, the left back position is the only real weakness in Tottenham's team. When Danny Rose (who, arguably, isn't a top four player anyway) is injured, it leaves Tottenham without a recognised, left-footed, senior left back. Right-footed Kyle Naughton steps in occasionally, or it is down to Jan Vertonghen to switch over from centre back, which subsequently weakens the core of their defence. This is inconvenient, to say the least, and has certainly contributed to some of Tottenham's worst results this season, given that Danny Rose has been injured for most of it. As a result, a new left back is needed - and really should have been signed over the summer. Spurs were linked with the likes of Fabio Coentrao, Alberto de la Bella and lvaro Pereira prior to this season and have been linked with the likes Pereira (again), Leighton Baines and Luke Shaw in recent weeks. With the January transfer window approaching, reinforcing this area should be a priority for whoever is in charge of Spurs come that time.
