Newcastle 3-0 Wigan - 6 Things We Learnt

1. The Future€™s Bright

Although there€™s few better opportunities to blood youngsters in the Premier League (at home to a 10 man Wigan with a 2 goal cushion), it€™s nonetheless encouraging for Newcastle United that all 3 substitutions were under the age of 22. Although Sammy Ameobi was far from impressive, Shane Ferguson once again looked dangerous and Gael Bigirimana scored the goal of the game with a thunderous drive from outside the 18-yard box. Not only that but Bigi, as he€™s known to Toon fans, looked comfortable on the ball and his numerous run outs in the Europa League are already paying dividends with crucial first team experience. Neither Bigi or Fergie are particularly intimidating on the ball but they possess something all too rare in the Premier League, and been rare on Tyneside for too long; guile. Expect all 3 substitutes to feature in Newcastle€™s game against Bordeaux on Thursday night.
