Newcastle Beat QPR 2 Years Ago To Stay Up - But How Do They Rate Vs The Current Team?

1. THE VERDICT - NUFC (2012-13) 9-7 NUFC (2014-15)

Although the NUFC side of 2012-13 just shades the score 9-7 against the 2014-15 version, both make for depressing reading. Alan Pardew led his side to safety with a victory at Loftus Road in 2012-13, although he had managed their terminal decline over a prolonged period before that. John Carver on the other hand has allowed Newcastle to be reduced to a side almost incapable of winning football matches. If Carver can secure victory at Loftus Road on Saturday, then this Newcastle team will undoubtedly be worse than the 2012-13 version - but even with a win they are most-certainly a poorer side this time around (although neither is going to be mentioned among the "great Magpies sides in the future...).
