Newcastle Transfer News: Anzhi Must Improve £15 Million Bid For Papiss Cisse

Express. According to Russian newspaper Izvestia, the Senegalese striker will be offered an improved, £50,000-per-week contract were he to move to the Russian Premier League outfit, with the Dagestan-based club prepared to offer £15.4m for the 27-year-old this summer. However, that fee falls short of Newcastle's valuation, who have now told the club to improve their offer before they even begin contemplating a sale. Cisse was Newcastle's joint-top goalscorer last season with 13 goals and the Magpies rate him at around £20 million. Were Anzhi to match that fee, a move could matieralise, as owner Mike Ashley apparently seeks to cash in on the club's star player much in the same way he did with Andy Carroll when he sanctioned his £35 million move to Liverpool in January 2011. However, the North East club have so far claimed they have not received any bids for any of their players, and Pardew's main objective for next season is to surely add rather than detract from a squad that so narrowly avoided relegation last term. Demba Ba, who also scored 13 times for the Magpies last season, was sold to Chelsea in the January window, and if Cisse were to also depart, there would be very obvious holes to fill in Pardew's squad.
