Newcastle Transfers: 10 Defenders Pardew Must Consider In January

1. Winston Reid

Club: West Ham If there's one player who fits the bill perfectly for Alan Pardew, it's Winston Reid. Not only is the West Ham hugely experiences (with more than 100 Premier League starts), he's also an English-type player (despite being from New Zealand) and his contract runs out this summer, so he's affordable. Reid is legitimately a great footballer, as able to defend as he is to play with the ball at his feet and it is for good reason that he has started to attract links to the likes of Arsenal and Man Utd on the back of some impressive form for the Hammers. At 26, there is still room for improvement, and the fact that he might well be available for a cut-price cost (provided he tells West Ham he intends to leave in the summer) means there would also likely be room for his saleable value to go up. Music to Mike Ashley's ears, no doubt. Which of these signings would you most like to see at Newcastle in January? Vote below.
