Newcastle Transfers: 10 Players From The World Cup To Sign

9. Andre Ayew - Ghana

Likely to be more of a known quantity is Andre Ayew. Linked with a move to Tyneside on a number of occasions, most recently just a couple of weeks ago, the Ghanian international is a very talented attacking midfielder with an eye for goal and blistering pace. Ayew is a player, much like the majority of Newcastle's very recent (you know what I mean) signings, that has lit up Ligue 1 in recent times, turning out for Marseille in the Champions League and helping challenge at the top of the French league, in spite of the rises of big spending Paris St Germain and AS Monaco. Ayew has made clear his desire to leave the Stade Velodrome this summer and although there will understandably be a host of clubs chasing his signature, Newcastle should be one of them. He and his brother Jordan, also at Marseille and a Ghana international, are the sons of former footballer Abedi Pele. They now look unlikely to progress beyond the group stages after a 2-1 defeat to the United States in Natal on Monday, in which Andre scored a sublime equaliser. Due to his experience playing at the highest level, Ayew may be seen as an unrealistic player for Newcastle to chase, but given the club's reputation in France and previous names that have made the move, he is a man that should definitely be on the list of possible replacements for the outgoing Hatem Ben Arfa.
