Surprisingly, Xherdan Shaqiri has been linked with a move to Newcastle on multiple occasions this summer.

Not many fans will need reminding of how good of a player Shaqiri is on his day.

His hat-trick for Switzerland at the World Cup in Brazil elevated him into the category of "world class" in many eyes and his quality suggests he should probably be at No 1 on this list. However, in reality, Shaqiri is probably the most-unrealistic option here, which is why he is only  No 5.

Having said that, the Swiss international struggled to impress at Inter Milan last season and, with Newcastle insisting the most-exciting arrival is yet to come, Toon fans can always hope.

It remains to be seen where Shaqiri’s future lies after rejecting a £12 million move to Stoke City earlier this summer and Schalke have also withdrawn their interest. However, the Magpies would have to move quickly with Shaqiri still reportedly attracting interest from Everton, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.
