4. Joleon Lescott
Another area of the pitch that Pardew may need to build upon for next season is at centre back. Club captain and first choice centre half Fabricio Coloccini dropped a bombshell on the Magpies back in January by
demanding a move to Argentina, citing "personal reasons". For several weeks it looked as though he was going to quit and join San Lorenzo, but when that move fell through due to their lack of funds, he remained on Tyneside. However, back in February, Coloccini
reiterated his desire to quit the club at the end of the season. If Pardew is forced into selling, he could look to Manchester City's Joleon Lescott as a replacement. The Englishman is out of sorts at the Etihad and, having fallen down the pecking order behind the likes of Vincent Kompany and Matija Nastasi, will probably be looking for a new club in the summer. The defender is desperate to boost his chances of being named in Roy Hodgson's 2014 World Cup squad and will quit the deposed Premier League champions for more regular first team action, according to the
Express, something of which the Magpies would be able to provide. The 30-year old would likely be available for a cut price fee too, with Roberto Mancini unlikely to recoup anywhere near the £22 million he paid Everton for his services back in 2009.
