5. Alfreð Finnbogason
According to reports, Newcastle are tracking exciting prospect Alfreð Finnbogason. The Magpies were offered the 24-year-old over the summer for the bargain fee of just £5 million but the striker stayed at current club SC Heerenveen when the Magpies instead turned their attentions to the likes of Darren Bent. Newcastle's loss has been Heerenveen's gain however as Finnbogason has netted 11 Eredivisie goals from just eight appearances so far this season, to go with the 24 from 31 outings he racked up last term. And now, the Icelandic international is back on Newcastle's radar, as manager Alan Pardew looks to bolster his forward line in the January window. Toon officials have already seen Finnbogason in action, as they watched him perform for Iceland during his country's recent 4-4 draw with Switzerland in a World Cup qualifier. And they could be set to revive their interest by making a serious bid for the forward in the New Year.
