Newcastle Transfers: 5 Reasons Pardew MUST Go Back In For Remy
2. Pardew Needs A Proven Goalscorer
Alan Pardew might have added two strikers to the squad this summer with both Ayoze Perez and Emanuel Riviere boosting the paper thin options - but he continues to need a proven goalscorer to compliment those emerging talents. Papiss Cisse was terrible at times last year, and unless he's spent his injury downtime with a counsellor working on his confidence and teaching him the offside rule, there's little hope among Newcastle fans that he will ever wade in with more than 5 goals in a season. Beneath him, ignoring the unknown quantities of Perez and Riviere (who don't feel like first choice just yet) the only other options would be playing Siem De Jong or Yoann Gouffran more advanced, or relying on the young talents of Adam Campbell or Adam Armstrong (who should both be out on loan and not in the first team picture). Those sparse options simply do not fit with Pardew's recent claims that his side need to compete for the Champions League, and adding a striker like Loic Remy to the squad should be top of the pops right now for the transfer team lead by Lee Charnley.
