Collins Newcastle were said to be interested in James Collins back in 2011 during his days at Aston Villa. Toon boss Alan Pardew was even contemplating lining up a £5 million offer for the defender but faced stiff competition for the players' signature from rivals Sunderland. However, Pardew ended up missing out on his man, and the player has since signed for West Ham United only last year. That doesn't necessarily rule him out of a move to St James' Park however, not when you consider that Fabricio Coloccini, the subject of this article, also signed a new deal at St James' Park last year, and look what has happened there.
