Newcastle Transfers: 5 Replacements For Fabricio Coloccini

2. Douglas

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgufSGg0CvQ FC Twente's Douglas was heavily linked with the club last summer and the Magpies battled Premier League rivals Fulham for the centre back's signature. Newcastle tabled an offer of £40,000 a week at the end of last summer, however negotiations for the player ultimately fell through and the player remained with his current side. With just 6 months remaining on his current contract with the Dutch outfit however, Alan Pardew may be tempted to make another move for the player. Douglas would be able to speak to and sign a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club this month, which makes him quite an attractive option. Alternatively, Newcastle could wait until the summer and sign him for nothing, but they really need a new centre back now. The 6ft defender has made 145 appearances for FC Twente since joining them in 2007. Source(s): Daily Mail
