3. Bakary Kone
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvnMuoZUYTs Returning to Lyon for this next one, Newcastles talks with the French club also apparently include centre back Bakary Kone. Lyons financial issues have already been mentioned and Newcastle could be set to take advantage again by trying to acquire the Burkino Faso international.
The Daily Mirror reported last month that he could be part of a double £10 million swoop also including Gomis. Kone has more than 20 caps for Burkino Faso and is still only 25. He has been at Lyon for the last two seasons, winning the French Cup in his first year making more than 40 appearances in all competitions. Last season saw him fall slightly out of favour playing just 20 matches in all competitions. However, he is still held in high regard especially by Newcastles scouting network in France and with Lyon wanting the money from the transfer and the player off the wage bill, they could get another bargain. Newcastles defensive options are limited, losing Simpson and Perch in the summer is a worry and Kone could realistically come in to provide some support at the back.
