Newcastle United: 5 Managers To Replace Alan Pardew

5. Roberto Martinez

Roberto Martinez CC The current Wigan manager would be a wise choice for Newcastle. He's proven his managerial ability by keeping a below-average side in the Premier League all these years, always getting the very best out of his players when he needed it most. Imagine what he could do with a team containing Cabaye, Tiote and Cisse. That's not to say that Wigan don't or have never had any decent players, they have. They just turned out to be too good for them and were approached by better teams, or they're just not enough to lift the average players the're surrounded by. But Martinez, and his scouting team, have shown they have a good eye for talent by bringing in players such as James McCarthy, Victor Moses and Shaun Maloney. He's also a great motivator and aspires to play attractive football, both qualities Newcastle fans would welcome. But it remains to be seen as to whether he would be willing to leave Wigan and Dave Whelan after the faith they have shown in him. In the past, he has shown a reluctance to do so when clubs such as Aston Villa and, reportedly, Liverpool have come knocking. But with relegation looking more and more likely for the Latics this year, he may be persuaded that he has done all he can for the club.
