Newcastle United Transfers: Every Graham Carr Signing Ranked Worst To Best

Signed From: Coventry

Almost immediately saddled with the nickname "Baby Tiote" when he signed from Coventry in 2012, Bigirimana's signing was counted as something of a coup for Newcastle, but he proved to be another "next big thing" who never blossomed.

To be fair to him, he got precious little opportunity to prove his worth on the pitch, and was sent out on loan to Rangers and Coventry, where he moved permanently in 2015. He's now back in Scotland with Motherwell, so he might well find his level.

30. Siem de Jong

Signed From: Ajax

Only Newcastle could be bitten twice by the same family name. Though he always looked like a very classy player on the ball, the perennially injured Siem De Jong has struggled to string more than a couple of appearances together at any one time.

He's painfully slow and his style simply didn't suit Newcastle's before he was sent out to PSV. He is apparently enthusiastic about the chance to play in the Premier League again, but it's hard to see him making a real claim for a spot in Rafa's squad.

29. Ivan Toney

Signed From: Northampton Town

Signed as another youth prospect from Northampton Town - where he only actually scored 11 times in more than 50 appearances - Toney has had very little chance to shine at Newcastle. Instead, he's been sent out on four loans - scoring well at both Scunthorpe and Shrewsbury.

If he's going to make a play for first team consideration, he's going to have to show more, but for now, the jury is mostly out.
