The Irishman started the season as our third choice 'keeper, but after a serious injury to Tim Krul, he was thrust into action with number two Karl Darlow also unavailable. If the Magpies are relegated, Krul will almost certainly be one of the top earners to be sold and with Elliot being one of the only Newcastle players to salvage any credibility from their performances this year, he will feel hard done by if he didn't take over the number one jersey. He would face competition from Darlow, but the ex-Nottingham Forest shot-stopper has looked very shaky in his limited appearances this season.
