5. Nani
In hindsight, Nani was fortunate his summer move to Zenit fell through as the atmosphere at the club, particularly on the terraces, is toxic and completely reprehensible. Regardless, it seems Nanis Manchester United career is over. He and his agent have overplayed their hand in contract negotiations and to be honest it is hard to see how Nani justifies the numbers reported in the press. A match winner one day, a showponying adolescent the next, at 26 he should be entering the prime of his career but Cristiano Ronaldo mark II he aint. Blamed for the 5-4 League cup exit to Chelsea in November, Nani has not featured since November 7th, not even making the bench. Likely to bring in a sizeable transfer fee, and a match winner on his day, he could be one of the big moves this winter.
4. Wilson Palacios
If you had forgotten completely about Wilson Palacios, then you would be in the majority. Dominant for Wigan, one of Harry Redknapps first buys for Spurs and a key figure in helping them avoid relegation, the Honduran was seen by most as a great capture for an aspiring Stoke side. However, Palacios has made only 22 appearances in the Premier League in a season and a half, most from the bench, and is behind the likes of Glenn Whelan, Dean Whitehead, and Steven NZonzi in the Stoke team. A persistent knee injury may harm Wilsons chances of moving but it is surprising that he has been so underused at the Britannia.
