Premier League: 12 Candidates For Player Of The Season So Far

1. Luis Suarez (Liverpool)

Suarez Even though he is considered by some to be a cheat, there is no disputing his world-class performances in a Liverpool shirt. With 17 goals in 25 games for Liverpool, he firmly stands as the Premier League's second highest scorer, behind Robin Van Persie. Without Suarez's stellar performances for the club and without his exceptional assortment of goals, I'm sure Liverpool would be struggling much further down the wrong end of the table. Ever the elusive presence in the penalty box, Suarez's movement and technique (and not to mention his notorious diving) makes him an absolute nightmare for unwitting defenders. For much of the season he has played the role of Lone Ranger upfront for Liverpool and he has pretty much carried on his shoulders, all of Liverpool's goalscoring hopes. If his impressive performances last year hadn't catapulted him to universal superstardom, then his form this year will make certain of that status. A firm definite for a starting place in the Team of the Year (most probably alongside Van Persie,) Luis Suarez has to be right up there as a realistic candidate for The Player Of The Season also. On top of this, with still 10 games to be played, I'm sure the Uruguayan has yet to give up hope of chasing Van Persie down for the prestigious Golden Boot award. Did we miss anyone you feel deserves to be included on this list? Should someone else have come top? Share your thoughts below.
