Premier League 2012/13: 5 Biggest Talking Points So Far

1. Can Tottenham Keep Hold Of Bale?

Gareth Bale Gareth Bale is going from strength to strength currently, after a marvellous few years where his development has accelerated to the very top, putting him on a par with the Premier League€™s most esteemed players. After plundering twenty-one goals in all competitions to date, there can be no doubt that the flying Welshman will be in high demand after the season€™s climax. On current form, he is proving to be a malignant danger to all opposition, no matter how strong or how fast. Recent estimations of him being on equal ground with Cristiano Ronaldo are a little wide of the mark just yet, but for how long? The in-game resemblances are certainly there: electric pace, an athletic composition, immense power, balance, self-belief, set-piece delivery, a wicked shot, and the capability to score from all areas of the attacking third. Bale has become Tottenham€™s primary asset in a very period of time, proving to be the difference between them, and their bitter rivals Arsenal, who do not possess a luminary of world-class ability. Though Tottenham look set to secure Champions League football this season, the question remains: will they be able to convince their main man that White Hart Lane is where he should be playing in the coming years? A good team the North London club may be, but they are not in the same league as the dignitaries of Madrid, Barca, Bayern, and United just yet, even if they are getting better. If an offer of astronomical levels were to be put on the table this summer, in the region of say, £50 million, the chairman, Daniel Levy, may find it hard to resist. Bale, theatrics aside, seems to be a well-grounded man and it is doubtful that he will kick up a stink if he is not allowed to move on. However, if he keeps on in the manner he is right now, Tottenham will face a real fight on their hands to keep him. What are your answers to these pressing issues? Share your thoughts below.
