Premier League: 8 Most Over Hyped Players Of This Season
7. Andros Townsend
A slightly different pick for the number 7 choice. Townsend has been picked for the hype that has started since the beginning of the season rather than before the season began. To put it lightly, Andros Townsend has enjoyed a rather successful year so far. He has broken into the Tottenham first team and looks set to remain there barring any major injuries. He got his first senior England call up earlier this season and scored on his debut in a 4-1 win over Montenegro. He is even being touted for a spot on the plane to England, and with Theo Walcott injured it would make sense for Townsend to be his like for like replacement. So, why is he one of the most over hyped players in the Premier league? To answer that question, you must look at his own personal statistics in the Premier League this season. In 16 appearances so far he has 1 goal and 1 assist. That's it! He has had 50 shots so far this year too, meaning his shots to goal ratio is 2%. He can run a fair bit and looks to have genuine raw pace but does seem to flatter to deceive more often than not, leaving superficial football fans to think he's doing a lot when in actual fact he isn't. The young Englishman still has a great deal of developing to do.
