Premier League Transfers: 15 Most Successful January Signings

2. Nemanja Vidic - Spartak Moscow To Manchester United

Fee:£7 million, January 2006. Much like Evra, Vidic signed for Manchester United in the first month of 2006, and the Serbian who has since become the club€™s captain cost £7 million from Spartak Moscow. On signing, Vidic quickly established a formidable defensive partnership with Rio Ferdinand, helping Manchester United go a record 14 consecutive Premier League matches without conceding a goal in the 2008/09 season, which was the foundation on which they built a successful league title push. Vidic has won the same team honours as the aforementioned Patrice Evra and like Evra has received many individual accolades including Premier League Player of the Month and Premier League Team of the Year on four occasions, and though he has recently expressed his intention to leave the club, he has been a tremendous servant. For many years Vidic has been the heart and soul of Manchester United€™s title winning sides, and was a great January buy indeed.
