Rating: £19 million

Jo cost Manchester City close to £20m in 2008. Fast forward a few uneventful months and the Brazilian, that was part of their squad at the 2014 World Cup, was down the pecking order behind the likes of Benjani, Felipe Caicedo and Ched Evans.

He was shipped off to Everton on loan but things didn't get much better for Jo. He left English football with a record of five goals in 27 games.
