Real Madrid 1-1 Man Utd - 5 Things We Learned

1. Manchester United Have A Slight Advantage

Last night United endured but withstood Real's bombardment on David de Gea's goal and could quite easily have conceded two or three times if not for a number of fine saves by the Spaniard coupled with resolute defending by the immense figure that was Phil Jones, who seemed to be everywhere last night. Danny Welbeck's away goal could yet prove to be a pivotal moment in this tie - if United draw 0-0 at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture, then they're through. It is also difficult to imagine United not scoring at Old Trafford, which gives them a slight advantage and hope that they can reach the Quarter Finals of the competition. There's still plenty of work left to be done, but I think if you'd asked United fans last night if they'd take a 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu, the majority of them would have snapped your hand off. The second leg is going to be a compelling and fascinating encounter and we can't wait to see what happens next.
