Southampton 2-3 Spurs: Premier League Player Ratings

Christian Eriksen: Involved in build-up to second goal, but otherwise not linking with the attack well enough. Dane is not showing the promise that saw him linked with the world's elite at Ajax. 5/10.

Gylfi Sigurdsson: Booked for late foul on Davis. Few other telling contributions despite industry and endeavour from the Iceland international. 5/10.

Emmanuel Adebayor: Our man of the match. Fine close range volley off the floor to bring Spurs level at 1-1. Restored their lead at 3-2 with a low shot after wriggling through the home defence. Needs to perform consistently like this to win over fans, but imperious today. 8/10.

Roberto Soldado: Peach of a cross for Adebayor equalizer. Fine hold-up play at the start of the move that led to Spurs' second goal. Could've had a second half hat-trick, but took none of the chances. Subbed. 6/10.

Subs: Nabil Bentaleb: Slotted into the supporting cast on his debut, but otherwise his appearance would have been a mere footnote to this game. 5/10.

Nacer Chadli: Bent a curling effort away and wide when he came on. 5/10.

Jermain Defoe: Thrown on for last five minutes. Rating N/A.
