Spurs: 10 Things Pochettino Must Do To Make His Side A Force Next Season

4. Possess A Constant Menace Upfront

Whatever a team's situation, they will always be linked to strikers. This is not surprising as strikers are a team's main goal threat and their presence disrupts a defence and allows holes to be made for other players to storm through. While Tottenham spent big on Roberto Soldado, the club's striking potential last season was somewhat limited and Pochettino will want a group of strikers who will intimidate any defence. Adebayor enjoyed a good 2014 under Tim Sherwood and his place in the team for next season looks certain, but when he is out of form he looks disinterested and this impacts on the team's performance. Soldado had a difficult first season, with only two league goals from open play, but he is well liked by the fans and his work rate is impressive. Kane made an impact when he was brought into the team in place of Soldado at the end of the season and will want to make the next step in his career. There are arguments for keeping all three strikers, but Pochettino will want a striker who can be prolific in the league and will complement his style of play. No striker has scored twenty goals or more in the league for the team since Jurgen Klinsmann in 1994-95 and if Tottenham want to push on, they need a strike force who can score with ease. Managing a striking group of four or more players is difficult, as they have found in the past, but the main focus should be on scoring goals throughout the season.
