Spurs 2-0 Norwich: 5 Things We Learned

1. Spurs Will Challenge At The Top Without Bale

It's taken a while for the new team to really shine, but Spurs proved on Saturday that they will be a force this season, even without their former Welsh talisman Gareth Bale. Norwich City are no pushovers these days, but Spurs completely and utterly brushed them aside with their new look team. Paulinho and Roberto Soldado, who had both impressed already, really came in to their own with sublime, confident performances and seemed more integrated in to the team, while Andros Townsend and Danny Rose continued to impress since returning from their respective loans last season. Christian Eriksen was outstanding on his debut and looks to be the creative maverick that Spurs have been lacking, while Erik Lamela was composed and classy in his brief appearance. Finally, the almost forgotten man, Gylfi Sigurdsson, proved he has a big part to play. Spurs were able to call on the services of Lewis Holtby, Sandro and Erik Lamela from the bench, while the likes of Jermain Defoe and Younes Kaboul didn't even get on the pitch. And the fact that the likes of Vlad Chiriches, Etienne Capoue, Nacer Chadli, Aaron Lennon and Emmanuel Adebayor weren't even in the squad today shows that Spurs have supreme strength in depth this year. They'll be challenging right at the top come next May, in my humble opinion. What did you learn from Spurs vs Norwich? Let us know in the comments box below.
