Spurs New Manager: 5 Candidates To Replace AVB

1. Fabio Capello

The firm favourite for the vacant Spurs post is former England boss Fabio Capello. After resigning as England boss last year (following the stripping of the captaincy from John Terry), Capello went on to manage the Russian national team - where he is still in charge now. He has led them to next year's World Cup, which makes his appointment at Spurs less likely, but not out of the question. Perhaps he could come in on an interim basic and still take Russia to Brazil, with a different permanent appointment at Spurs coming in at the end of this season to replace him after he has fixed the current problems. Capello's managerial record is undoubtedly impressive - indeed, his time with England (arguably one of his worst performances as a manager) still saw him with a 66.7 win percentage. His club management career has seen him win the Serie A title with Juventus, AS Roma and Milan, the LA Liga title with Real Madrid and indeed the Champions League with Milan. There's no doubting his credentials, but at the age of 67, is he really the man to take Tottenham forward with the long-term in mind? We shall see, but he was at White Hart Lane yesterday and is a good friend of Spurs' Technical Director Franco Baldini, so it looks quite likely to happen. Regardless of who Spurs appoint, if they can inject the dynamism, fast and free-flowing football and goals that Spurs fans are used to, it will be a success and a far cry from the lacklustre and lethargic performances that this season has delivered so far. So there you have it - five potential replacements for Andre Villas-Boas at White Hart Lane. Do you think any of these men will be appointed? Who else should be considered?
