Spurs Transfers: 11 Signings Mauricio Pochettino Must Make Immediately

5. Morgan Schneiderlin

Current Club: Southampton One of the most surprisingly brilliant players of this Premier League campaign is 24 year old Frenchman Morgan Schneiderlin. The battling midfielder has been with Southampton since 2008, when they were still a Championship club. He arrived from Strasbourg in his home country, where he had mostly been a B-team player and was a France Under 19 international at the time. Costing a mere £1.2 million, he has become one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League. Indeed, Schneiderlin has been so impressive that the uncapped player has been named on the standby list of players for the France World Cup squad this summer - ahead of the likes of Manchester City's Samir Nasri. It's not as though Spurs are lacking in defensive midfielders - what with Sandro, Etienne Capoue, Nabil Bentaleb and Mousa Dembele all capable of playing there - but if Schneiderlin becomes available and Pochettino can attract him to White Hart Lane, the opportunity would be too good to miss. A move to Spurs could really improve Schneiderlin - who is already a top player - and allow him to move to the next level.
