4. Lewis Holtby
Out of favour midfielder Lewis Holtby is another player who could find himself on the chopping block in the New Year. The Germany international only joined Tottenham from Schalke last winter and arrived in England billed as one of European football's best young players, but has since struggled to adapt in the Premier League. The 23-year-old has been in and out of the team since the summer arrivals of Paulinho, Christian Eriksen and Nacer Chadli - three players who play in the same role as Holtby, who has yet to play a full 90 minutes of league football this term. As a result, Schalke
are keen to exercise the buy-back clause stipulated in the midfielder's contract when he first moved to White Hart Lane, allowing him to move back to Germany if all parties are in agreement. Holtby has only scored one league goal for Spurs since joining last winter and has struggled to leave a lasting impression on the club.
