Spurs Transfers: 5 January Signings To Save Their Season

1. Christian Benteke

Another striker Tottenham could go in for in January is Aston Villas's Christian Benteke. Benteke has been a revelation since moving to England from Genk last summer, netting 19 Premier League goals and 23 from 39 overall appearances in his debut season. But the Villans endured a poor campaign last term, after finding themselves in a relegation scrap, leading to the Belgian striker's handing in of a transfer request, which was ultimately retracted. Villa's current 11th place position and mid-table obscurity however is unlikely to be enough to persuade the ambitious Benteke to stay on too much longer, with the forward harbouring ambitions to play at the top levels of the game. If Spurs come calling, particularly with a big money offer, Paul Lambert's side may struggle to resist selling up, and Benteke could be exactly what this goal-shy Spurs side need.
