Spurs Transfers: 5 January Signings For Tim Sherwood

1. Christian Benteke

Prior to the appointment of Tim Sherwood on a permanent basis, it looked as though Tottenham would need to sign at least two new strikers in the January transfer window. Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor were under-performing and though the former may still leave, the latter has come on leaps and bounds under Sherwood's short tenure. Adebayor looked a dead cert for a White Hart Lane exit next month - that was, until he scored twice against Southampton in the Premier League at the weekend to go with his sole strike against West Ham in the League Cup last week to put himself right back in the mix for first team opportunities. As such, Spurs only need to look for one new forward in the New Year, and that man could be Christian Benteke. Tottenham are reportedly planning a £28 million January bid for the Belgian international, who lit up the topflight last term in his debut season at the club, netting 19 league goals. It has been written recently that had Andre Villas-Boas signed Benteke over the summer, when he handed in a transfer request, he may not have been fired. And if successor Sherwood is to avoid a similar fate, he is going to want to overhaul a forward line that has scored the second-fewest goals of any side currently in the top half of the table. Who do you think Tim Sherwood should sign in January? Is he the right man for the job? leave your thoughts in the comment section, below.
