Spurs Transfers: 5 Quick Defensive Fixes Tim Sherwood Should Consider In January

1. Joleon Lescott

Rumour has it that this one is on the cards already and, frankly, it would be a very shrewd move by Tim Sherwood to bring the Manchester City defender in on loan for the rest of the season. The England defender is vastly experienced and can play at both centre back and left back and, with 2014 being a World Cup year, Lescott must surely want regular football to make the England squad - especially given that the centre back position is one of the national team's strongest areas. His winning mentality (he's a Premier League title winner) would be priceless at White Hart Lane and his versatility would ensure the team was covered across the entire backline in the event of any unfortunate injuries. Lescott is reportedly willing to take a pay-cut to join the Lilywhites for the rest of the season and, if that is indeed true, they should do all they can to bring him to the club on a short-term deal to shore up their troubled defence. So there you have it - five quick and short-term defensive fixes Tim Sherwood consider for Spurs in the January transfer window. Do you agree with this list? Which other players should be considered for a quick defensive fix at the club? Should Spurs actually be looking to sign a defender permanently in the notoriously hard-to-buy January window?
