Spurs Transfers: 7 Players They Should Have Signed With The Bale Money
5. Will Hughes
What Spurs' influx of signings really lacked last summer was some young English blood. Domestic players have been the heart and soul of White Hart Lane for years, with the likes of Ian Walker, Paul Robinson, Anthony Gardner, Michael Dawson, Steven Caulker, Sol Campbell, Ledley King, Kyle Walker, Michael Carrick, Scott Parker, Tom Huddlestone, Jake Livermore, Tim Sherwood, Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend, Darren Anderton, Jermain Jenas, Nick Barmby, Jermain Defoe, Darren Bent and Teddy Sheringham all having represented England whilst playing for Spurs in the Premier League years. To suddenly see seven foreign imports with no English league experience brought in was something of a shock. Granted, Will Hughes has never played in the Premier League, but a domestic player of his talents should not have been overlooked. He's had a fantastic season this campaign and his stock will only have risen and, with Derby County still potentially heading for promotion via the Championship play-offs, it could go up even more. Possessing a lot of flair and able to use through balls and mazy runs to create space for team-mates and beat opposition defences in attacking positions, Hughes is just the kind of player Spurs are known for letting flourish and, with seven England Under 21 caps to his name at the age of 19, he could become a great player in the future.
