Spurs 0-1 Newcastle: Player Ratings

Newcastle

Tim Krul 5Tim Krul: A string of 14 fine saves made Dutch stopper deserved man of the match. The readjustment to keep out Sigurdsson's deflected free kick was world class. No superlatives adequately described this display from Krul. 9/10. Mathieu Debuchy: Defended well against Sigurdsson, but booked. It's taken him a little time to settle into the team, but Pardew is reaping the rewards. 6/10. Mike Williamson: Poor interception set up Sigurdsson's second chance in the second half, but did enough in the air. Fabricio Coloccini will come back into the team after the international break. 6/10. Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa: Committed two needless fouls on Soldado in middle of the park. Made last ditch interceptions, but another clean sheet to his credit. Still takes occasional chances at the back. 6/10. Davide Santon: Rather quiet on the flank of defence. Italian is an efficient player, but Townsend almost exclusively cut inside and became someone else's problem. 5.5/10. Moussa Sissoko: Not really involved for long spells, but sprung into life when he drew save from Friedel at a tight angle. Outmuscled Vertonghen then, but later booked for fouling the same player as Spurs countered. 5.5/10. Cheick Tiote: Dealt with Townsend, but almost deflected Sigurdsson's free kick past his own keeper. Pleasantly surprising off the back of a disciplined display. 6.5/10.
