Spus Transfers: 5 January Replacements For Erik Lamela

1. Angel Di Maria

Angel Di Maria was facing an uncertain future at Real Madrid last summer when Gareth Bale left Tottenham to join the Spanish giants. There were concerns the pacey Argentine would find himself slipping down the pecking order with Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo the obvious first choice midfielders at the Bernabeu, but that has largely not been the case. Instead, Di Maria has gone on to star for Madrid this season, making 16 La Liga appearances and scoring twice. That being said, Spurs should still try again to persuade the Madrid man to leave, particularly if they do end up losing Erik Lamela. The winger would fulfil a wide role for Spurs, who would be left with Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend and new signing Nacer Chadli to fill the flanks should Lamela walk away. There are also concerns they lack star quality since Bale's departure, and Di Maria's arrival would be seen as the "marquee signing" fans hoped for when the Welshman left, yet still has not arrived. Do you think Erik Lamela will leave this month and if so, who should Spurs sign to replace him? Let us know in the comment section, below.
