They say that possession is nine tenths of the law, so it shouldnt be a surprise that Swanseas current caretaker manager Garry Monk is the overwhelming favourite to get the job on a permanent basis with odds of 1/10. I can certainly see why the club may feel he is right man to steady the ship until the end of the season, since he has made a positive start. However, the player-manager has no previous coaching or managerial experience, and may not be the right choice in the longer term. On a personal note, I was shocked that the club sacked Laudrup and replaced him with a current player. However, I do understand why they may have wanted to have minimized the disruption to the squad at this point in the season. As mentioned before, it certainly seems that the club should have enough in the tank to see them clear of the relegation zone. Nevertheless, Im wary about how dangerous of a statement that is to make, given how much the league has fluctuated this season. Therefore, if Monk does get the job in the end it will be interesting to see if that proves to beneficial appointment in the long-term.
