10 Most Ridiculously Over-Priced Flops In Premier League History

5. Andriy Shevchenko - Chelsea (£30m)

When Chelsea bought the excellent Andriy Shevchenko for £30 million in 2006, they were supposed to be getting a player with the deadliest touch and keen eye for goal - he had after all spent years proving his class in Serie A with Milan. With over 170 goals for the Italian giants and a Champions League winners medal to his name, the Ukrainian was the finished article. It was quite sad to see that Sheva failed to settle in England though. He was one of the nice guys, a guy you wouldn't begrudge a goal against your side because you respected his ability and what he'd done on the pitch in years gone by. But Shevchenko failed to live up to the £30 million tag despite his best efforts. The striker eventually returned to Milan on loan, but he probably should never have made the move to England in the first place. His career started to deteriorate after he left the comfort of Milan, though it was great to see the striker try his hand in England. However, it was one of Chelsea's most expensive mistakes - though by no means the worst.
