The Most Expensive World Footballer XI Of All Time

3. Forward: Neymar - £200 Million

As of right now, Neymar is the most expensive player in the history of football. In 2017, French giants PSG took the Brazilian talisman off Barcelona's hands for an incredible £200 million, far surpassing the previous record that was held by Manchester United's Paul Pogba.

After playing as part of a front three with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, two of the best players in the world, Neymar's move to PSG made him the top dog, with a lot of pressure and expectation on his shoulders. While he has not been a bad player for the French side by any means, he has not been able to lead the club to what they really want - the Champions League trophy.

Since the club has won the Ligue 1 title six times in seven years, their focus is on winning European silverware, but have never progressed past the quarter finals. Neymar has not been able to carry his team to such glory.

Rumours of fallouts with teammates and being fined for missing training have led to speculation surrounding the Brazilian's future in France. Though just about any team in the world would love to have him, who could actually afford him?
