Tottenham 1-0 Swansea: How The Key Battles Were Won

Michel Vorm's Wonder Saves

The goalkeeper of the losing team rarely wins a key battle in the game but if it wasn't for Michel Vorm's string of saves in the Swansea goal, the scoreline could've been a lot more damaging for the Swans. Whilst Vorm couldn't capitalise on his previous penalty saving escapades to prevent Roberto Soldado from scoring his second successive penalty in two games, the Dutchman pulled out some spectacular stops to keep the score down to just one-nil. With 21 shots on goal, the Swansea 'keeper was certainly kept busy throughout the tie. Paulinho was the first to force Vorm to work when his close range, thumping strike was somehow caught and held. Considering the power that the Brazilian puts behind the ball, Vorm's technique to keep the ball from sprawling loose had to be admired. Another strike from Moussa Dembele forced Vorm to this time show his acrobatic side and tip the stinging strike over the crossbar. The Dutch international gained plenty of plaudits in his first season with the Swans, but after some rotation with Gerhard Tremmel last year, he seems to be back to his best for what will be a busy camapign for Swansea this time around.
