West Brom Transfer News: Thievy Bifouma Pursued Before Deadline

Pepe Mel has confirmed his interest in competing the signing of promising 21-year-old striker Theivy Bifouma before 11pm. The Baggies have been lacking a goalscoring striker this season since the departure of on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku last summer, and the French U-21 international has been impressing on loan at Las Palmas of late, scoring 11 goals already this season. Should the deal be confirmed shortly as expected, he will be expected to slot in for their clash at home to Liverpool this Sunday. Albion are heavily depleted offensively at the minute, with Nicolas Anelka and Stephane Sessegnon out for thematch against Liverpool on Sunday, and striker flop Markus Rosenberg set to complete a move to Swedish outfit Malmo today, after failing to score in any of his 28 appearances for the club. The Baggies lie a mere 3 points above the drop zone, and have not won since beating Newcastle 1-0 on New Years Day. Their next 3 fixtures include games against Liverpool and Chelsea, and a trip to in-form Pulis-inspired Crystal Palace; a tough fixture list by any standards.
