West Ham Transfers: 5 Strikers Needed To Avert Relegation

5. Robbie Keane

A certified gamble this one, but if it works it could turn out extremely beneficial for both players and the clubs involved. The gamble? Well the ex-Tottenham man is 33 years old now which will have slowed down his electric pace a little. Factor in that he's playing in the MLS where the pace is decidedly slower than that of the Premier League then you might have a recipe for failure. However, with Keane the gamble is definitely worth taking! In the MLS, he is an integral part of the LA Galaxy as they finished 3rd in the Western Conference last year- 16 goals and 11 assists is testament to his importance. Furthermore, he's still firing on the international stage having bagged 62 goals in 131- which averages out at a goals per game ratio of 0.47%. Which comes to the paramount reason he should be snapped up during the close season of the MLS: he scores in bulk wherever he goes. Only at ill-fated spells with Inter Milan and Liverpool would he have been disappointed with his goal return (well not scoring at Inter especially), but wherever he has gone, mostly residing in the Premier League he has made an impact of one description or another. Besides, as we've seen with Henrik Larsson at Manchester United and Keane himself at Aston Villa last season, 2 month loan deals can work wonders and give the team added impetus.
